The CPI Grant provides financial assistance to small businesses that are facing hardships. To be eligible, businesses must be for-profit or nonprofit, have a total building size smaller than 15,000 square feet, and be located within the City of Atlanta.
If you're a small business owner who leases your commercial space, there are a couple of things you should keep in mind when it comes time to apply for the CPI Grant. First, you'll need to have a minimum of 1 year left on your lease in order to be eligible. Second, you'll need to get approval from the property owner in order to apply. While this may seem like a lot of hassle, it's actually relatively straightforward if you plan ahead and know what to expect. So don't wait until the last minute. Start planning now and you'll be able to ensure a smooth transition for your business. Applicants must also show a current City of Atlanta business license. If you don't have a business license, or if yours has expired, you can apply for one!
The City of Atlanta is committed to creating economic opportunities for all its residents. One way of doing this is by giving priority to small businesses located in disinvested areas of the city. Disinvested areas are those where there has been a significant decline in investment and economic activity. They often have high rates of poverty and crime, and residents may have difficulty accessing basic services like grocery stores and healthcare. By investing in small businesses in these areas, we can create jobs and help to revitalize these neighborhoods. If you own a small business in a disinvested area of Atlanta, please contact us to learn more about how we can help you grow your business. Not sure if your business is located in a disinvested area? While most commercial properties are eligible for the CPI Grant, there are a few exceptions. Properties that are occupied by religious institutions or public agencies are not eligible, nor are those that are not zoned for commercial use. In addition, properties that operate as package stores or for purposes of adult entertainment, including gambling, are not eligible for funding. However, businesses that provide other types of adult entertainment, such as movie theaters or live music venues, may still be eligible. It is common for investors to seek out commercial properties with national credit tenants, as these businesses tend to be more stable and generate consistent income. However, properties with national credit tenants are not eligible for the Commercial Property Improvement Grant in Atlanta. The reason for this is that these businesses usually have the financial resources to make improvements to their property without the need for grant funding. In addition, these businesses typically have national credit ratings, which gives them access to more traditional forms of financing. As a result, the city of Atlanta has chosen to focus its grant programs on smaller businesses that may not have the same level of financial resources. This helps to ensure that grant funds are used in a way that will have the greatest impact on the local economy. At Green Property Advisors, we know that investing in your business can be a big commitment. But we believe in you and we are here to assist your grant application.
